The watch is very nice, the black leather strap is rather shiny, but other than that, it's very good looking. Perfect present for a man with smaller wrist.

Beautiful clear dial. Have owned a Citizen Eco watch myself for over 10 years. Hopefully this one will be as trouble free. Down side is that the watch strap looks a little short for my husband's wrist.

I purchased this watch as an everyday workhorse because it has a very clear Dial or Face, & shows the Day & Date. However, when I received this Watch, it's quality of finish & shear elegance of design is so good, I'm using it as a "going-out" dress watch! The black leather strap is very high quality & blends with the chrome casing very well. I'm not someone who like's large men's 40mm+ casing sizes, this watch is more traditional in 'Men's Watches of the 60s' which were much smaller & generally more dressy. Excellent Watch! & saved a lot compared to high street Jewellers retail price.

Just what I was looking for better than expected.

First impressions are good. The watch is easy to set up - although the instructions in the box are incomplete, there are both a downloadable pdf and an idiot-proof video link on the warranty registration site. As with any watch, manually advancing the date is needed for any month with less than 30 days. Some might find the strap a little on the short side - a problem Ive found with other watch brands, too.
If it lasts well, this will have been a good buy.

I was looking for a watch that didnt require any battery replacement, so the eco-drive was an obvious choice.
Although there seemed to be a lot of watches to choose from in the eco-drive range the BM8240-11A was the one I liked the most & amazingly the cheapest at the time.
Its a clean & stylish design not oversized & quite slim,
The contrast between the white face & elegant black numerals & strap is pleasing & the day & the date are fairly easy to see.
The leather strap is made to look like crocodile skin which is the only thing Im not 100% keen on, but only a minor demerit.
Overall very pleased with my purchase & looking forward to not having to change batteries every year or so.

I bought the watch as a present for my son who needed a dress watch for his wedding. He is delighted with my choice because it fits neatly under his shirt cuff and suits his relatively slim wrist. The watch also has just the right elegant look for the occasion. The eco drive should be a benefit as it should remove the need for battery replacement.

I wrote a nice long review but it timed out, so hard luck, Im not doing it again. But lll say its a nice watch and reminds me of my Granddads old pocket watch which he gave me when I was a lad. The watch marries the traditional Roman numerals type of face with technology which is a century advanced.

I thought Id try a solar powered watch as I have a couple of automatics and I am very pleased with my selection.
Just one thing wrong its slightly small for my wrist. Had I noticed the case diameter 36mm I would have gone larger.
That been said the watch is brilliant .It keeps great time and looks quite good when I wear it with a suit.
Ive had a few favourable comments in the pub.
I think Ill have to look for a larger sized face of the same brand. I changed the strap as it was a bit stiff ,although it was presentable enough I didnt like it.
All in all a very good purchase and very good ,prompt,delivery.

Good and accurate watch from what I can tell so far after just a few days but poor strap. It's very stiff and too much space between the holes so it's either too loose and moves around your wrist too much or too tight to actually put on.

I bought this watch as a present for my 15 yr old grandson. He gave me specific information on what he wanted of a wrist watch. This was a it had to be a silver metal coloured round design with a white face and b it had to have Roman numerals and c it had to have a black leather strap. The only watch that fit his instruction was this classic citizen watch. As its a xmas present he hasnt yet received it. My husband assures me of the reliability of the make as he had one for many years. I am so glad to have found what he wanted.

Watch was just what I required but found the crown very difficult to operate it took me half an hour and a pair of tweezers to set up the day and date!

This Eco-drive watch is a well-designed, simple and classy item which is guaranteed to please. The clear display with roman numerals around a circular face is simultaneously easy to read and traditional. The black strap is comfortable and offers flexibility whilst being worn. The controls are easy to use with 2 settings to alter the time and date. An added extra is the inbuilt mechanism to reduce battery usage - an excellent feature to help the Eco-drive live up to its name.

Whilst the simplistic design may not offer sufficient gadgets to suit all tastes, it offers a classic design and comfortable feel which I cannot fault.

Crown is very smooth so very difficult to change the date and time.

While changing the date, the date was stuck on Monday and didnt move no matter how much I turned the dial. I had to manually change the time until it went past 12pm on to the next day, then the date changed. After this the date was changeable. It seems like the date wheel got stuck somehow.

This watch ticks all the boxes for a clear wearable everyday no fuss timepiece.
It is smart and elegant.
I like the dial size, the case thickness not too chunky and the day and date functions.
I also like the eco drive that will keep the watch going for six months in the dark.

A great looking watch very stylish and just the right size for my wrist. It is not one of those oversize watches that seem to be so popular these days.

It has a clear easy to read face and of course being Eco drive requires no battery replacement.

I would agree with other reviewers who have mentioned that it could be slightly fiddly to adjust for some people although I found it ok and the strap itself could be made of a more supple leather.

I bought this watch as a gift for my father for his 60th birthday present I wanted a classic style which wouldnt go out of fashion, and a watch with a luxury quality. This watch has both.

In terms of design, the dial is simple but stunning. The Roman numerals are an eccentric touch, but a classy one. The date function is proportionate and not overbearing like it can be on some styles. The leather strap is a decent thickness, and we both liked that its not plain.

Performance-wise, I bought a Citizen because I knew they were a reliable brand. We were also impressed by the Eco-drive functionality - not having to worry about batteries is a great draw and also provides a neat talking point hes the kinda guy who likes to discuss watches at dinner parties.

A great buy, and nice packaging if youre planning to give as a gift too.

This is my 3rd Citizen Eco-Drive watch and I love them all. This one has a very pleasing design with a simple, clear face showing Roman numerals on a white background. The watch itself is slim and elegant, the leather strap was stiff at first but soon loosens up giving a very comfortable fit. Timekeeping is excellent.

Aesthetically, the face might have been even more pleasing if it came without the day and date slot, but this is a very useful function that I would be reluctant to lose. The overall quality of the watch is excellent, particularly given the price of it.

Very pleased with appearance of the watch including the Roman numerals. Second hand unubtrusive. My only complaint is that the strap is rather stiff and buky. Generally satisfied

Based on having owned it for 2 weeks, so no long term experience. Very clean, clear, simple face, with day/date easier to read than many. The down side for me is not the watch itself, but the strap: It is quite stiff, and even when put on using the tightest comfortable hole, the face often slips round the the side of my wrist. I may end up having to buy a new, more supple strap

I have now had my watch for a couple of weeks and I am very happy with it. I love the way it looks. There is an uncluttered classical look to it that is appealing. The day of the week and the date are clear and easy to set while the Roman numerals are a bold statement that are in keeping with the classical appearance. It keeps good time and the fact that it will never run down or need a battery changed is just boss!

Good product, speedily delivered, only negative is the crown is smooth and hard to turn. However once set, should only need to use a few times a year so not a big issue

Mens Citizen Eco-Drive - This watch looks good for the price although cannot comment on its performance as it is a Christmas present for my husband.
Watch looks stylish and expensive and as my husband has a small wrist the dial is not too big or thick. The strap is leather and all in all I think it is good value for money.

This is the second Citizen eco drive I have purchased over the years and the reason I returned to Citizen is the brilliant quality, looks, price and longevity.

Lovely item, simple and elegant. The leather strap is slightly tough to start but Im hoping will wear in nicely, as they do. I took advantage of the strap adjustment and they provided an extra hole to make it tighter than I currently need, just in case - good thinking guys. The buckle too feels nice and solid. Only gripe is that the crown has a smooth surface which provides little feedback when setting the time, date and day. Very pleased with my purchase.

It was just by chance that I chose my new eco-drive Citizen Watch I had not heard of eco-drive. I have always bought Casio watches before,but looking through their range for a watch powered by light that I liked, I didnt find one. So I looked through Citizens range, I saw a watch that I liked the look of. It had all the things I admire in watches. A nice leather strap, a circular dial, a watch should have a circular dial.and what struck me most I think were the Hands,such beautiful delicate Hands, and the second Hand completed the trio, I have never seen one so fine. The numerals also perfect, delicate. And when the watch arrived, I was not disappointed. And it works perfectly, I am Very pleased with it.
